Getting your feet wet with social media

I recently had a friend ask me about social media. Basic questions, why is it important, should she pay attention to it, would having an understanding help her with her career (which isn’t related)?

Since she works at summer camp right now, her access to the internet isn’t 24/7. I said it wasn’t a huge deal and typed up some notes for her.

I want to share them with you as well. Any other points you’d suggest to someone wanting to get their feet wet?
